We completely removed old staircases and handrails, and re-framed new openings for the brand-new shiny, rock-solid oak stairs to fit right in place. Old stairs were very steep and had a very shallow step. Very dangerous. Now stairs and rails are up to code and very comfortable to walk up and down, and much safer for the children. New Oak Handrail In Moorestown NJ

New Oak Handrail in Moorestown NJ. We left the oversized starting step and the stair treads intact.
Homeowner wanted a safer and more user-friendly, (and beautiful) handrail than the one that was original to the house, which was in bad shape. We left the posts also, but extended them to raise the rail 3-4 inches to bring it up to the required 34" from edge of stair nosing. We then installed the new rail "over-the-post" style. All new balusters freshly painted and secured, with a darker stain on the new rail gives a nice contrast to the lighter colored stair treads.
