Like this rail system shown here. Square posts (that are strong, and sturdy and will outlast most homes they're in), with hardwood rail, and the 5/8" round tubing that isn't so harsh on the kids (like cable) who will inevitably end up playing on, or around, the railing. You know they will, like you did when you were kids. And the tubing won't loosen up and have to get re-tightened every six months like cable. And the tubing is cheaper than the outrageous prices for cable components. This couple just had a little one and they were looking for something modern, safe, sturdy, and reasonably priced. This fit the bill perfectly. They couldn't be happier. It was nice to work with someone who appreciated all that we did. We ended up doing homeowners brother's house as well.
